The food is phenomenal! Super fresh, made to order. Perfect crispy chicken. And the staff was so sweet and welcoming. It's a cute little hole in the wall type spot.
This gem is tucked away along a series of rowhouses near the convention center. It reads as more of a take out place than a sit down restaurant, but lack of seating is likely due to the pandemic. I grabbed dinner here after a long day taking the bar exam at the convention center just across the street, and I'm glad I did. The food was comfort-food at its finest. Huge chicken tenders, and buttery, melt in your mouth honey covered moist biscuits. The only downside is they had no salt packets for the take-out (I put salt on EVERYTHING lol). I highly recommend this place!!
So let's get straight in to this review! The chicken tenders 5 out of 5: piping hot, juicy, and well seasoned! The coating adhered to the chicken and was crunchy! The potato wedges/steak fries: 2 out of 5: although they were piping hot the potatoes were undercooked and bland (maybe a different cooking method? or just some bagged crinkle fries would be great! The honey butter biscuit 2 out of 5: I wanted to be in love but the biscuit was doughy and not flavorful other than the honey. Another minus for me was the off brand tiny dipping sauce (they're tenders are huge so they require adequate sized sauces so I just so happen to have a Zaxbys honey mustard sauce and that paired very well). I will absolutely go back for the tenders!
Chick'n Crave was a legit chicken shack. Make sure you pay attention to the directions because it's kinda ducked off by the architecture. I took pictures from the moment I stepped in and it was a great start. The colors and feel is very homegrown and the music fits. The lobby and bathrooms were very clean. This is very important when it comes to a food establishment. The customer service was on point and they give military discount. I ordered the 16 piece tenders with 4 honey biscuits and wedges with a half gallon of sweet tea for $32. Before you even get a split second to think that's too much money, look at my pictures. Chick'n Crave chicken strips are enormous, well battered and cooked. The batter was crispy while the chicken was juicy. They give you just the right amount of honey biscuits for the experience. The wedges were legit, especially with a lil excess of honey on them. The sweet tea was sweet enough to get your attention, but won't give you diabetes. Overall, this was a legit chicken spot. I only had to give it 4 stars because my wife would prefer fries over wedges, lol
Excellent food made fresh using their own family recipes. Hidden treasure near the Convention center. Definitely will be back!!
